Service Calls in Northern New Jersey

When something stops working — a tripped breaker, a dead outlet, a flickering light, a burning smell at the panel — you don't want to wait three days for a contractor to call back. A Gareffa Electric service call gets a licensed electrician on-site today or first thing tomorrow morning, with a published flat rate that covers the trip and the first hour of work.

We've handled service calls across Bergen, Hudson, Essex, and Passaic counties for years — single-family homes, multifamily buildings, retail tenants, small offices. The same crew that does $40K panel upgrades shows up for a $350 GFCI swap. Same license, same insurance, same standards.

What a service call covers

  • Trip out and on-site arrival within your booked window
  • Full diagnostic — we trace the issue, not guess at it
  • One full hour of a licensed electrician's labor
  • A written quote before any work goes beyond the included hour
  • Cleanup and a post-test before we leave

Common service call jobs we handle

  • Tripping breakers — overloaded circuits, weak breakers, ground faults, neutral issues
  • Dead outlets — usually a tripped GFCI upstream, a backstabbed wire, or a damaged receptacle
  • Flickering or buzzing lights — dimmer compatibility, loose neutral, failing fixture
  • Switch and outlet replacements — single, three-way, four-way, GFCI, AFCI, USB combo
  • Smoke detector and CO detector — hardwired replacements and battery-backup retrofits
  • Burning smell or scorching — never ignore. We diagnose and isolate before damage spreads
  • Bathroom and kitchen circuits — GFCI code compliance, dedicated 20A small-appliance circuits
  • Doorbell, exhaust fan, garbage disposal — small-fix replacements that keep the house running

Pricing — no surprises

Our service call is a flat $350. That's the trip plus a full hour of on-site labor. If the fix takes longer than an hour, or if parts are needed, we hand you a written quote before we keep going. You see the number and approve it. There's no "oh, that'll be another $400 at the end." If the project ends up over $1,500, your $350 service call is credited toward the total.

05 / Q&A

Good questions,
straight answers.

What's the difference between Same-Day, Scheduled, and Estimate?

Same-Day Service ($350) is priority dispatch for problems you need fixed today — broken, dead, or tripping. We get there, diagnose, and repair on the spot, with the first hour included. Scheduled Service ($150) is the same hands-on diagnostic and repair work, but for non-urgent issues you can book a day or two out. Estimate ($100) is a written walk-through for planned upgrades — service panels, EV chargers, additions, remodels. The $100 is credited back if you hire us for the project.

What does the $350 same-day service actually include?

The trip out, the diagnostic, and a full hour of a licensed electrician's labor on-site. That's not a "show-up fee" — it's an hour of real work. Most common residential issues (dead outlets, tripping breakers, faulty switches, GFCI replacements, light fixture troubleshooting) get diagnosed and fixed within that hour. If the issue runs longer or needs parts, we give you a complete written price before we keep going.

What if the fix takes longer than an hour?

We diagnose first, then quote the full job before doing any extra work. You see the price and approve it before we proceed — never any "oh, that'll be another $400" at the end. If the project ends up over $1,500, your $350 same-day service fee is credited toward the total.

Why do you take a deposit when I book?

Honestly, because the moment you book, we're already on our way. Your deposit dispatches a licensed electrician toward your house, locks in your slot, and gives our techs a confirmed schedule, so we're not double-booking or showing up to empty driveways. If you cancel more than 2 hours before your window, we refund in full. Inside 2 hours we keep the deposit since we've already held the slot for you and the truck is rolling.

Are you really licensed and insured?

Yes — NJ Electrical Contractor License #18578, $2M general liability, fully insured for residential and commercial work. We're happy to send certificates of insurance to property managers, condo boards, or landlords on request.

Let's get it
fixed.

Book online in under a minute. A licensed electrician will be on the way today, and you'll know exactly what it costs before we even ring the doorbell.
