Electrical panel
upgrades.

Older home tripping breakers constantly? Adding an EV charger, hot tub, or kitchen remodel? Commercial property maxed out on amperage? We upgrade panels from 100A residential up to 4000A commercial service entrances, permitted and inspected in our name.

Signs your panel needs an upgrade

  • Breakers tripping repeatedly with normal loads
  • Older fuse box or pre-1990s panel (Federal Pacific, Zinsco — known fire hazards)
  • Adding an EV charger, hot tub, pool equipment, or central AC
  • Kitchen or bathroom remodel adding high-draw appliances
  • Buying or selling a home and the inspector flagged the panel
  • No room for additional circuits in the existing panel
  • Burning smell, scorch marks, or warm panel cover
  • Insurance company requires upgrade for coverage

What a typical residential upgrade looks like

Most older NJ homes have 100A service. We commonly upgrade to 200A service entrances, which gives you headroom for modern electrical loads (EV charging, induction cooking, heat pumps, home offices). The job includes: utility coordination to disconnect/reconnect, new meter pan, new service entrance cable, new main panel with modern breakers, ground rod and bonding to current NEC code, permit pulled in our name, and final inspection coordinated with your local building department.

Most residential 100A-to-200A upgrades complete in one day with power restored same evening, though some older homes need a half-day of additional rough-in work depending on access to the panel location.

Commercial and multifamily service upgrades

For commercial properties and multifamily buildings, we handle the full scope: 400A, 800A, 1200A, 2000A, and up to 4000A service entrances; meter stacks for multi-unit buildings; sub-panel distribution rebuilds; CT cabinet and current transformer work; utility company coordination with PSE&G or your local provider. Permits, inspections, and code

All panel upgrades require an electrical permit from your local NJ municipality. We pull the permit in our name, coordinate the rough and final inspections, and handle utility disconnect/reconnect with PSE&G. You get the close-out documentation when we're done — not a "let me know if the inspector comes back" voicemail six weeks later.

Pricing

Residential 100A-to-200A upgrades typically range from $2,800–$4,500 depending on existing conditions (panel location, service entrance length, meter relocation, sub-panel work, etc.). Larger commercial scopes are bid project by project after we walk the site.

Every panel upgrade starts with a $100 estimate visit — we come out, scope the work, take photos, and send you a written quote within 2 business days. The $100 is credited toward the project if you hire us.
